Perimeter lighting in pools creates an outline of the water line or pool shape through the use of SideGlow® fiber optic cable, track and an illuminator. It can be a fantastic way to show-off the curves of a pool by leading the eye, or to feature an inserting elevation change, or to create safety lighting for steps or raised spas. Perimeter lighting should never be considered as an alternative to the main underwater lighting; it is decorative in nature although as mentioned, it can serve as safety lighting for steps above and below the water.
SideGlow® cable creates an interesting illusion when it is used as a perimeter light just a few inches above the waterline. A mirror image will be reflected on the water surface and appear as if there are two lines.
The contrast effects can be absolutely stunning when used on a black bottom or darker bottom pool when the main underwater lighting is turned off.
